Eduardo J.Blanco

Eduardo J.Blanco was the provincial engineer of Negros Oriental during the Outbreak of World War II,was born in Dumaguete City coming from a typical Dumaguetiño Spanish /Chinese Mestizo familia. Building Government Facilities and improvement of infrastructure projects, he might have anticipated the importance of the Dumaguete Airport to Japanese Military Operations because he and assistant provincial engineer Jovenal Villanueva -Somoza volunteered to stay on working on the airfield, thus gaining familiarity with installation.

He organized the underground intelligence resistance in Dumaguete they had twenty members. At the height of the struggle, they drew a ground plan of the airport which was secretly converged to the guerrilla headquarters, and   the American forces in Australia. Subsequent American attracts on the airfield were right on target, Suspicion again Blanco and his men. On September 12,1944,they were arrested and interrogated by the Japanese in "Davao Cottage" .Tortured in Channon Hall of Silliman University. After weeks of detention, they were Killed placed in weighted sacks and thrown into the sea near Piapi Beach.

Blanco's Heroism and Martyr make him a place in Negrense History, his son Rene Aldeguer -Blanco and Cecile Blanco wife of the late Hon Ramon Mitra Sr. of Palawan always remind them how their father sacrifice to the good of many people
