Juvenal Villanueva -Somoza World War II Hero and Martyr Jovenal is the son of Don Alejandro Somoza and Doña Narcisa   V. Villanueva from Bais and La-Liberated landed clan.Educated in Dumaguete and Manila prestigous institution and finished his degree in Engin eering ,he joined the City Engineering Dept. under Mayor Jose Teves -Pastor,his first project is to put up Health Center in Piapi , Daro and Taclobo .He later worked with the Provincial Engineering Dept.,one of the biggest projects were schools in Siaton , Bais , Dumaguete ,la liberated and Amlan .He made many proposal to the Bureau of Public Works and Highways of the United States of America for road construction. Before and during the Outbreak of the World War II he became assistant district engineer.Among his projectswas to built a road from Bais to Kabankalan ,bridges connecting Sta.Catalina to Bayawan . HON. HERMENEGILDO “BINDOY” T. VILLANUEVA  Writer : Prof. Penn T. Larena ,CPS,MPA  Hermenegildo Villanueva was born on September 25, 1896 in the municipality of Bais, Negros Oriental, Philippines, son of Hermenegildo Regis Villanueva and Anselma Pinili Teves. He was Filipino citizen married to Asuncion dela Peña Larena who was the eldest daughter of prominent sugar baron Demetrio Larena and Maria Luisa dela Peña.  He learned his first lessons from his private tutor employed by his parents. He continued his studies in Cebu, attending one of the best schools of that time there, where he finished his secondary training. He finished a business course in Iloilo City. Just budding into full manhood during the early part of the revolution, young Hermenegildo saw glamours in the services for his country. Teves Clan History Negros Oriental

A FAMILY TRADITION :  By : Sir Penn Tulabing.Larena,CPS, CPE MPA family Historian Vicente Anunsacion Teves  a sailor trader and a traveler. Ventured in the cultivation of sugarcane in 1852, married a Dumagueteña lady Rufina Villamil who bore him 14 children. Moving to Bais , he established Haciendas and became the first producer of muscovado sugar in 1867. The sweet family tradition continues to harvest a good service to the society and community (Philippine tatler May 08 issue p68 ). Don Anatalio Teves  the first son of the Teves couple is the builder of Bais, he builds most of the roads, train rails, light material wharf and established the Political family of the Negros Oriental, the “Villanueva Clan”.
