The spirit of independent Negros resonated deeply in Dumaguete City as the community gathered to celebrate a monumental milestone: the 127th Liberation Day of Dumaguete and Negros Oriental from Spanish Rule. This significant commemoration was a powerful testament to the enduring legacy of the valiant men and women whose sacrifices echo through the island's cane fields and mountains.

The event served as a heartfelt tribute to the valiant Negros Heroes—the individuals whose courage in the face of tyranny ignited the flame of the Negros Revolution. Their bravery, culminating in the historic events of Cinco de Noviembre and the countless "whispers of resistance," secured the freedom that the people of Negros cherish today.

"To our valiant Negros Heroes, your sacrifice echoes through the cane fields and mountains. We dedicate this gratitude to you... May your legacy inspire us always to fight for justice, unity, and a better future for this beloved island. Padayon! (Go forward!)"

This profound message underscores the community’s eternal indebtedness to their dedication. The celebration emphasized that the heroes' spirit ensures the island's independent resolve remains strong, urging the current generation to continue the fight for justice and a better future.

The commemoration, held at Manuel Quezon Park in Dumaguete City, was organized through the collaborative efforts of several dedicated groups: the Negros Oriental Alliance of Culture and the Arts Advocates Incorporated (NOACAAAI), the Buglas Reading and Writers Club, the Paulinian Art Society, and the Open Book Circle.

The organizers extended their deepest gratitude to everyone who participated, stressing that the widespread presence made the occasion truly memorable and significant.
