Negros Oriental Alliance of Arts and Culture Advocates (NOAACA) @ 7 years old

 By Gemma Minda Laxina Iso

Seven years. Seven years of believing that culture and the arts deserve a place at the table, even when we were not always given a seat. Seven years of showing up, creating opportunities, bringing people together, and finding ways to make things happen, even when the resources were scarce and the odds were not always in our favor.

The Negros Oriental Alliance of Arts and Culture Advocates (NOAACA) was never built on financial abundance. We have no guaranteed funding, no deep-pocketed benefactors, and certainly no unlimited resources. What we have is something that cannot easily be measured in pesos -- conviction, passion, courage, and people who refuse to let a worthwhile cause die simply because pursuing it is difficult.

There were moments when limitations could have been reasons to stop. Instead, they became reasons to think harder, work smarter, and find another way. We may not have accomplished everything we dreamed of, but every activity, every partnership, every cultural initiative, and every small victory has reminded us why we started in the first place.

Seven years later, we remain standing. Not because the journey has been easy, but because the purpose has always been bigger than the difficulties.

To everyone who has believed, volunteered, collaborated, contributed, and stood with us -- this milestone belongs to you, too.

We celebrate seven years not simply of existence, but of persistence.

We may have limited resources, but we have never had limited determination.

Here's to seven years of courage, and to many more years of making culture and the arts matter.
